Rogues' Memories of Barbados.
Experience this fun tale of a genuine rogue who is an adventurer at heart and an all-around sport with a well-developed spirit of fun. Rex Wotton managed the West Coast Watersports center at Coral Reef hotel. It was only a short walk from Settlers Beach. They took hotel guest diving and on daytime and sunset cruises along the coast. He was a master seaman trained by the Royal Merchant Navy in all matters of navigation, and marine work. Rex was one of the most enchanting Rogues of Barbados. He had an amazing sense of fun and used it to win over every situation. Rex was independent at an early age and often disappeared for days at a time, to camp by Joes' river , catching cray fish to survive. He built campfires from coconut husk and twigs and cooked his catch with breadfruit, wild okras, plantain, and edible vines. He ate mangoes, and local berries like fat pork, and sea grapes, that grow along the beach.
As a child, he had a habit of disappearing into the woods: Leaving home with just the basic necessaries, jeans, shirt, loafers, Swiss army knife, a Wide rim hat, and little else, he lived off the land: He sheltered amongst trees, caves, and rocks, which he blanketed with bush and debris, creating a roof with palms and banana leaves. Banana leaves have many usages. Wrapped around food, they serve as a container for cooking over a fire. They make an excellent surface to serve up a meal, and can be used as a shade and a cover on which to lie down.
